Brief description of the Project There are over 1,000 fashion design students graduated from different Institutions every year. Some of them will establish their own company to develop their creative designs into the garment sample for commercialization. However, most of the Hong Kong fashion designers do lack the resources and necessary technical knowledge for constructing a quality and “sellable” garment. It is a critical barrier for them to develop their fashion business. This project, establishing a Sample Development Centre (SDC), that aims to assist the Hong Kong fashion designers to make their prototype / salesman samples for presenting their fashion collections to their manufacturers and clients. This Centre not only provides prototype / salesman sampling service to Hong Kong fashion designers, but also offers technical skill training workshops to enhance the technical knowledge for the young designers while creating their own collection in more cost-effective way. Clothing Industry Training Authority (CITA) will work closely with the project steering committee to oversee industry development direction and design promotion, and will foster exchange and better overall advisory, collaboration, communication and co-ordination with relevant stakeholders such as incubation centres, designer and industry associations, education establishments, etc.

The project information is accurate as of the approval date of the project.
