|Brief description of the Project
||CENTRESTAGE is an Asian-focused launch pad-cum-marketing platform organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council for the fashion industry. It is an initiative to support the Government’s policy in building Hong Kong as Asia’s fashion hub and promote Hong Kong’s design capability.
The fifth edition in 2020 featured 240 brands from 23 countries/regions and was the first time in its history to have taken a virtual form, successfully giving Hong Kong and Asian designers unparalleled opportunities for exposure amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Integrating computer-generated imagery with traditional shows, six virtual runway shows were successfully premiered over three days in 2020.
Entering into 2021, this premier fashion promotion campaign will consist of a trade exhibition, some 30 special events including large scale fashion shows and parades and a series of citywide promotion. Combining both physical and digital elements, fashion shows will also be broadcasted via digital platforms to reach out to a wider public. This integrated approach aims to:
1. Enable Hong Kong designers to promote and launch new collections to both international and local buyers as well as local consumers
2. Promote Hong Kong as Asia’s fashion hub
3. Facilitate exchange of insights and latest market development with overseas counterparts
4. Leverage the digital platforms to reach out to a wider spectrum of international buyers and help promote the fashion industry
HKTDC has been constantly receiving positive feedback from the industry. CSI funding will help create an effective business platform for emerging fashion designers to find new customers from both local and overseas and attract international fashion buyers to the Hong Kong platform.
