|Brief description of the Project
||CENTRESTAGE is an Asian-focused launch pad-cum-marketing platform organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council for the fashion industry. It is an initiative to support the Government's policy in building Hong Kong as Asia's fashion hub and promote Hong Kong's design capability.
The fourth edition in 2019 featured 235 brands from 23 countries/regions and welcomed close to 7,000 buyers from 74 countries/regions over the 4-day fair period, with over 40% of buyers from overseas including Asia and Mainland China.
For 2020, amidst the outbreak of COVID-19 whereby international travel is restricted, the premier fashion promotion campaign will be revamped. It will consist of a trade exhibition (i.e. CENTRESTAGE) and fashion shows which will be staged on a virtual platform, instead of physically. Coinciding with these virtual events are a series of physical citywide promotion activities that aims to raise public awareness and creates a fashion vibe across the city. This integrated approach aims to:
1. Enable Hong Kong designers to promote and launch new collections to both international and local buyers as well as local consumers
2. Promote Hong Kong as Asia's fashion hub
3. Facilitate exchange of insights and latest market development with overseas counterparts
4. Leverage the virtual platform to reach out to a wider spectrum of international buyers and help promote the fashion industry during difficult times
HKTDC has been constantly receiving positive feedback from the industry. CSI funding will help create an effective business platform for emerging fashion designers to find new customers from both local and overseas and attract international fashion buyers to the Hong Kong platform.
